
The Western Regional Chapter annually recognizes members by
offering several prestigious awards:
Rose Kleiner was a woman who founded her own professional care management firm and was influential in research, caregiver support, and training. Her contributions to the field are numerous and her standards were of the highest in the industry. This award is given every year to the GCM who exemplifies high achievement in the field of professional geriatric care management.
Award Criteria
- The candidate must have a significant number of years in the field of professional geriatric care management.
- The candidate must demonstrate his/her commitment to the advancement of the field of professional geriatric care management through his/her contributions and leadership roles.
- The candidate must actively promote the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Management and its Western chapter. This requires a significant time commitment and active participation on both the regional and national levels.
- The candidate must demonstrate an exemplary provision of care management services which adhere to the highest professional standards and the most stringent code of ethics. This can be ascertained by the candidate’s reputation within the professional community.
- The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to share information, and to provide collegial support and mentorship to others in the field.
Award: A plaque which celebrates the achievements of the recipient and cash.
B.J. Spitler Community Service Award
BJ Spitler was a major force in the development of care management as a method of serving older adults and their families as a business. She also combined care management with home care to assure quality, continuity and cost effectiveness. Additionally, BJ committed her professional life to addressing issues of aging and gave back to her community through volunteering her expertise to a wide variety of causes. This award is given annually to a member of Western region who exemplifies the same generosity of spirit, time and attention to his/her local community.
Award Criteria:
- Five years as a PGCM
- Current member of NAPGCM, Western Regional chapter
- Demonstrated involvement in the nominee's community (e.g., membership on non-profit boards, newspaper articles on good works, acknowledgement from community sources including awards, commendations etc.)
- Publications by Members List articles written by members.
Award: A plaque celebrating community service and $100 to recipient's favorite charity.
